Nice dorms, Free Breaky, = Not Bad May 07, 2011
Rocked up to this hostel as it is very close to ADO bus station. Check in is really simple as you sign on with a computer and your key has a chip in it so any thing you purchase or need goes on your account that you will pay at the end of your stay. You can leave money or your passport a a deposit and you get a clean set of sheets, a towel and they offer free breakfast which can be eggs and toast, cereal and toast, pancakes all of which you make on your own. They also offer free bus ride to the beach return.

Rooms are basic dorms and beds a slightly awkward and misplaced. Bathroom and shower are basic. Room had a 2 industrial fans along with a normal room fan. The only crappy part was that the industrial fan was on blast which we could not change so it was very loud.

New case of the bed bugs in my room, but was being dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Nice chill out area to cook and meet people. Also close to store to buy food or drink.

1l mojito :) Apr 13, 2011
Really good, cheap place to stay when travelling threw beautiful cost of Cancun. A bit far from beach but as far as I know all hostel in Tulum are in some distance from the beach.

The cooking/ordering system is slightly confusing but you can get use to it. Amazingly cheap and good 1l margaritas, mojitos and other delicious drinks!

Really nice and helpful receptionists, definitely the place to stay!!!

Hostel near the Tulum bus terminal Jan 25, 2009
If you're looking for hostel accommodation near the Tulum downtown bus terminal you don't have much of a choice but to come to the Weary Traveler Hostel (120 pesos for dorm bed with air-con., a little less for one with fan only). The people working there are friendly and helpful.

Make-your-own-breakfast (included in the price of the accommodation) ..... bread, veggies, eggs, coffee, condiments, etc., and stoves, pots & pans are provided.

Free shuttle to the beach departs from the back of the hostel at 9am and 12 noon, and you walk about ten minutes to get to the Tulum ruins. The return bus for the 12 noon departure is 5pm, and that's the last one.

You can also get collectivos/vans to Playa del Carmen (35 pesos) just a short walk across the street from this hostel.

I wouldn't particularly recommend this hostel since a couple of people in the other room complained about being bitten by bedbugs. Also they put too many bunk beds into the room (12 or more) and the shared washroom is windowless. But then again, they don't need any further recommendation since they are already super busy.

The best thing about this place are the hammocks under the leafy trees....makes it sooo good to relax and read or just chat.

In the evening, you can get good tacos, etc. in the restaurant just next door (your right hand side as you exit the hostel).

Tulum- town, beach and ruins
The ADO bus from Playa del Carmen to Tulum town takes about an hour. Tulum town is a nice enough place, strung out along the main road with quite a few hostels, restaurants and snack places.
