Watts Chapel Compton Reviews
Mary Watts Chapel, Compton Sep 30, 2009
Watts Chapel is in a very remote area, in the village of Compton, Surrey. The Chapel is located just down the road from The Watts Gallery and tea shop.
Visiting the Chapel is absolutely free and open to the public during the daytime.
The beautiful memorial Chapel was designed and built by Mary Watts (wife of artist, George Watts). The exterior and interior of the building is very elaborate, it's absolutely stunning. The chapel is a mixture of art nouveau, Romanesque and Celtic with the unmistakable underlying influence of Arts and Crafts. It is a must for any art enthusiast as its originality is astounding.
I really would recommend visiting the Mary Watts Chapel. It's an extraordinary building that is very under-appreciated and certainly deserves much more attention. Words can't really describe how wonderful this building is.
