Watkins Glen Overview

With a population well below 3,000, Watkins Glen is surprsingly small for a village so well know. Perhaps the town's biggest claim to fame lies with its being the home of Watkins Glen Grand Prix, one of the world's finest racing tracks, hosting road racing in all forms from Formula One to NASCAR and beyond. However, another chunk of the population acknowledges Watkins Glen because of its rock festivals - a tradition begun by the massive "Summer Jam" in 1973.

Sitting at the southern end of Seneca Lake in New York's Finger Lakes region, natural beauty is another facet of Watkins Glen. Although its splendid State Park surrounding Glen Canyon might not be as familiar, this jewel usually serves as a pleasant surprise to race and rock fans makig the trek here. There should be something for everyone in this delightful New York village...
