Waterfall and cascades in Bri Bri (close to Puerto Viejo) May 30, 2014
Most of the directions to these waterfalls are very easy to follow, and only tricky part is to find the path to the river… Costa Rica became very touristy and this place is very much out of the main paths (there are no gates or fees) in the Native Indian Reserve.

When you get to the main square in Bri Bri ask someone for “cascadas” and you will be sent into the tree covered hills via large mostly dirt road. You will have to cross the river jumping from the stone to the stone few times (Three or four times…) and basic direction is to follow the river. After some 40min walk from the city you will get to the little parking area (for two-three cars) and that is your entrance. Parking is on the right side and you will figure that entrance because it stands out from the serenity of the area. Path goes down to the river and then continues to the waterfalls. Keep following the path to the large waterfall, but after that do not miss the cascades above it. There are many cascades and waterholes accessible for those who like a bit of adventure and walk in the woods.
