Wat Thammikkarat May 01, 2013
Wat Thammikkarat is a part of the Ayutthaya historical park complex and consists of a large platform and some ruins. Interesting things to see are small statues of rosters, and some nice Buddha images. I am not sure, but I think that statue surrounded by roosters is one of the Rama's (rulers of Thailand). They are building new Wat and they are asking for donations to buy bricks, tiles and everything else needed for the building. Entrance is free which is not always the case in Ayutthaya and you can also see some old stupas.

In general, it is nice but not really a Wat that has incredible artistic value. It is located on the loop around the island and very easy to find and visit. I rented the bicycle and just took my time going over ruins in the town.
