Washington Hotel Casablanca Jun 20, 2011
I have stayed once in this hotel and the staff and location was wonderful. The hotel is close to the Railway station (Casa voyager) and not too far to the Grand Hyatt. The room rate was good and so the breakfast, I have enjoyed the stay. It is recommended.

Washington Hotel Dec 25, 2010
The hotel got a nice lobby which ouze of class - unfortunately the rest of the hotel has a problem living up to the promises from the lobby. You got the standards you would expect from an up market hotel with the 24 hour reception and a breakfast restaurant. The staff has a fair knowledge of English so you have to try your best (or worst) French to get by.

But the hotel seems a bit dated and the rooms could use an update to put them into the 21 century. There is an elevator which seems reliable but it is painfully slow so if you live on one of the lower floors it might be better to walk - I stayed at the fourth floor so I ended up on the laze option a few times instead of going for a bit more exercise.

The hotel is location is fair for Casablanca - you are close to some restaurants and a couple of shops and ATMs so anything you need is within a couple of minutes walk. It is also within walking distance from the old town and a few other attractions. If you want to go to Hassan II Mosque it is either a very long walk or a quick taxi ride.

If you got your own laptop you can use the free wifi at the hotel and they got computers in the lobby which you might be able to use - I am not sure if they are free or not.

The staff is doing what you can expect of - but they are not doing anything more. When I arrived with a bag lost in one airport somewhere in Europe they did not come out to offer any specific help with my contact with the airport which had only medium English capabilities.

Great Service Feb 20, 2010
This was the starting point for the Gap Adventures tour - Deserts and Kasbahs in Morocco. It had internet, a A/C / heater box in the room, a mini fridge (unstocked), a decent shower and enough blankets to keep warm for the night. My mother and I stayed in a twin room and it was very much of European Style hotel rooms. There was internet available in the library, two computers, no wi-fi. And the staff were as friendly as can be, although there seemed to be a somewhat large language barrier if you only spoke English. A European breakfast is included in the price and you get coffee, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, and loads of pastries. If you're looking for a nicer hotel to stay at in Casablanca, I would recommend this, but if you're more into backing stay far away from this hotel.

Smoky and noisy in Casablanca Mar 02, 2009
Staying here was not my choice but picked by the tour company.

The hotel is located in central Casablanca on a very busy street. The hotel from the outside and the lobby looks pleasant enough but the rooms and restaurant were dingy and dated.

I stayed here on two occasions at the beginning and end of my tour and both occasions was not impressed. There are no "no smoking" rooms and cigarette smoke came into my room through the vents from other rooms and the bar downstairs. The hotel sits on a busy street and as drivers in Casablanca like to use their horns it is not very quiet. The restaurant did serve breakfast but it was nothing special. Besides the bar downstairs there is also a jazz bar on the top floor which was nicely decorated compared to the rest of the hotel - though the drinks seemed expensive.

The railway station, medina and Hassan II mosque are short taxi rides away. There is a supermarket, plenty of restaurants and cafes and a McDonald's all within walking distance. After dark is best not to walk alone in the neighborhood but there are plenty of the petit taxis available.

The staff at the hotel is OK but not very friendly. Not one of them broke a smile though they did help give directions and answer questions when needed.

For the first night I paid $50 through the tour company. The second night I booked through Orbitz and paid $80. It was my last night in Morocco and I stayed here purely because I knew what to expect and knew the area.

I would not choose to stay here again if I was to return to Casablanca.
