One of the most famous monuments in town Jul 22, 2008
On the main square of the old town you will not only find lovely terraces, nice restaurants and beautiful buildings. Here stands as well one of the Syrenka's or mermaid statues of Warsaw.

This mermaid with sword is the symbol on the armory shield of the capital of Poland and therefor a famous and meaningful image. Her name is Melusina, and she's a figure of the Polish folk, that lived in the Vistula river. The statue has moved around Warsaw many times, but now stands back on her original spot in the Stare Miasto.
