Some history :
Wapen of Leeuwarden is already an understanding from about 1900 in Leeuwarden.
The Cafe is as good as we know, been in the hands of the family Buis till 1975 and has been a billiard and cafe.
On the first floor there has been something as a travellers.This was common for sailors,tourists and salespeople who where far from home with just little to spend.You could rent a small basic room for little money.
After 1975 it has been sold to the family Oosterhof. But after 5 year they wanted to stop exploitation it. After a few years of renovating and no purpose of the cafe the family Eisma bought it in 1983 and the son ,Marten is still running it.

Where to find:
Go and step out of the main entrance of the station go into the street you see in front of you and walk about 3 minutes towards the centre of Leeuwarden on the right side of the street you see just before the big sqaure the big windows of the establishment. You cant miss it.

What to find:
You find here people aged from 8 till 88 and from all social classes, being served by a young and very motivated and always friendly staff.
You should not be surprised when you find them making jokes about each other and their regular guests and doing that with a lot of humour.
They have several brands of beer and a wide variety of liquor and wines.
For not to much money you can eat here your lunch or dinner.The kitchen is open till about 22:00 in the evening.

If you feel like dancing or life music you should check on Saturday&sometimes Sunday. Several times a month they take out the big tables and turn the ground floor into a dance floor with a live DJ or band.

The design of the cafe / restaurant is like a grand cafe and if you feel like relaxing you can go to the first floor and enjoy the comfort of the big leather chairs in a nice environment.

So you want to meet or being among a mixture of people in a nice atmosphere while enjoying a drink or some food you should go here and maybe you will find me there also. It has been in their family for years and several people of my family and friends come there almost as long as its theirs.
