Wangdiphodrang Overview

Wangdiphodrang is both a town and the captial of the district of the same name in a fertile valley in central Bhutan. A large Dzong dominates the skyline, originally built for military protection from invaders from the south. The area is also famous of the Phobjika valley where the rare Black-necked Cranes may be found. Phobjika has a fantastic museum dedicated to the Black Cranes who migrate there each year.
