Wanganui Vacation Guide
Wanganui is a city with about 40.000 inhabitants that is surrounded by wide green hills. The city is located on the southwest coast of the North Island.
In 1840 this town was founded and named after the nearby Whanganui River, just the town’s different spelling (a missing ‘h’ made the name more individual).
Wanganui is not one of the country’s most crowded spots but you can find a lot of history and culture there.
The Memorial Tower with its great view, the Whanganui Regional Museum (at the Civic Centre), the Sarjeant Gallery ant the St. Paul’s Memorial Church show many different and unique pieces of Maori art.

I started in Auckland, drove to Rotorua, Napier, Wanganui, and back to Auckland. It was a quick overview of the North Island of New Zealand.

So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia.
(We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)
