Wanaka Vacation Guide
Wanaka is a small town north of Queenstown that got it's start during the gold rush. It sits at the south end of Lake Wanaka with great views of the surrounding mountains.
Many visitors stop in Wanaka to participate in one of many outdoor activities. Snow sports in the winter and water sports in the summer.
Surrounded by great ski fields like the Treble Cone and the Cardrona Ski Field Wanaka has best conditions for winter sports.
The 311m deep and quite freezing Laka Wanaka is quite popular among fishermen and the view around the lake is fantastic as well.
Not too expensive accommodations, a few shops, the library and playgrounds, different restaurants, Puzzling World and some more exciting activities like a flight over the lake are ideal for a family holiday because everybody might find a favourite.

Lucky me, I got the opportunity of spending my winter holiday in Wanaka and Cadrona. The atmosphere in Wanaka, which is so small that it reminded me of my home village, was absolutely awesome. The deep and freezing Lake Wanaka was one of my my favourite spots. The water was crystal clear so that …

Next stop with the Green Kiwi Express: Wanaka. A beautiful but rather small laketown on New Zealand's South Island, but the one stop I had been waiting for since I arrived in Christchurch. I had a mission in Wanaka, a dream to fullfill: to fly an airplane.
My first flying experience was when I was…
