Slightly hidden away on the outskirts of Wanaka, this museum is a huge collection of stuff; it's like someone just kept on buying stuff, and sticking it in a shed. In fact, several large hangars. An more bizarrely, it's a mix of old cars, fire engines, planes etc, together with Barbie dolls, Star Wars figures, teddy bears etc. Quite a fun trip out if you're into old cars (or Barbie dolls). There's just so much stuff there, in no particular order; worth it just for the randomness of it all.
It's also next door to Wanaka beerworks (http://www.wanakabeerworks.co.nz/), which is a very small brewery producing some good quality ales. Well worth a trip out if you're in the Wanaka area. |
