Wan Shung Chinese Restaurant Reviews - Norfolk

I think I have eaten from every Chinese take-out in Norfolk, and they are all pretty horrendous. The worst Chinese take-out I've eaten has been in Norfolk. There is not one place that is decent, tasty, or pasable. My personal opinion, while in Norfolk, don't eat Chinese. Period. China Ocean, No. 1 Chinese Buffet... just forget about it and opt for pizza.

But, if you're in the NAVSTA/Little Creek area, and you HAVE to have Chinese or your eye-balls will pop, go for Wan Shung. The only reason poor little Wan Sung doesn't get a 1-star, is because of their awesome and quick service, and a few menu items. They are quick, and delivery with only a $10 minimum. Their menu is the standard Chinese take-out, with a couple of Southern staples like fries and fried chicken. The fried chicken wings are surprisingly good, while the fried dumplings, spring and egg rolls, Moo Goo Gai Pan, chicken with brocolli are ok. The Moo Shu is actually pretty good, if you get rid of the stale pre-made pancakes and eat it over steamed rice.

As for the things to avoid: teriyaki chicken (taste like rubber on a skewer), sweet and sour anything (oozes MSG), lemon chicken (sounds good... but don't be fooled), 'crab' rangoon, fantail shrimp (although, my husband loves it, I find it rubbery and greasy), and anything that's a "house special" (it's the equivalent of school lunch mystery meat). As for anything else, eat at your own risk.
