So much more than just a sports bar! May 10, 2012
Walkabout is an Aussie bar chain with lots of venues in London (most popular are the Covent Garden and Temple branches) and the UK. Mostly known as a sports bar due to the amount of HD screens showing rugby games, motor sports and football, it also hosts live music nights and has affordable food for even the mightiest of appetites.

Their burgers are especially satisfying and range from £5.50 to £8, with the option of adding extra burger patties. There is nothing better than traversing the busy streets of London all day long and then slumping into a Walkabout sofa with a giant burger. Walkabout offers a loyalty card called the Boomerang Card for about £3 and I have to say this is indispensible if you’re planning on visiting more than once. Highly recommended! Not only does the card mean you get 20% off all food and selected drinks, but you are also eligible for deals such as the Classic burger and pint (!!) for £6.40 – with a regular beer costing around the £3.50 mark this is definitely something to consider (I think you'll have to register it online before using it, but most people can just use their phone internet to do it then and there). Beside the burgers Walkabout also offers a range of regular main meals like lasagna and also a range of “sarnies”. If you’re looking to try something different, you could try the Kangaroo Steak! Personally I found it a little too tender, but it was interesting to try!

In the evenings this place can fill up quite quickly and in the Covent Garden branch it can be hard finding a seat. There’s usually a bouncer outside too, so have your ID ready if you tend to be asked for it. Dress code is very casual, it is Aussie after all. Not really a place for dancing, but for trying Aussie beer like VB and Hahn Super Dry (..terrible stuff..). Great live music and FANTASTIC on Australia Day (26th of August). Bar staff are very friendly and food tastes great!

In case u got the smalles budget and wanna have a huge amount of fun take ur stuff and get ur best piece in a Walkabout. To all who know how australian bars are like, i dont have to explane more. For those who dont i just say that u already missed something. Best beer u can get and the people are as layback as it can get. The food is the simple stuff nothing fancy expensive but delish and cheap. The people behind the bar are great to talk to and for tip in the bucket they serve specials. So if you wanna have that spirit without the weather conditions from Australia go and give it a try cause closer u cant get unless u go to Australia of course.

so follow my advice and visit 1nce in your lifetime a walkabout.
