Waikato River – What an amazingly calming effect! Feb 07, 2009
Hamilton is as busy as many cities but I think it’s much luckier than a lot of other locations because the 354km long Waikato River flows through the city, which means there is a special source of relaxation available.
If you are in Hamilton and you are totally exhausted because of quite a few fun activities just come down to the river and take a deep breath. I bet you will feel better within a minute. A walk or even better a bike ride along the shore can be so relaxing! It’s no surprise that many families prefer this route for a walk, enthusiastic sportsmen bike or jog along this route every day and water fleas in boats floating down the river. A green oasis, many neat jungle noises and the smell of fresh wood surround large parts of the footpath beside the water. This is the place where you can forget the daily hectic! So, why is the easy-going Kiwi lifestyle still surprising to me? Part of the New Zealand 2008/09 travel blog |
