Wahiawa Overview

Wahiawa is a town in central Oahu with a population of just under 18,000. The populace is largely military due to its proximity to Wheeler Army Airfield and Schofield Barracks. The Dole Plantation is the areas biggest tourist attraction with their giant Pineapple Garden Maze. The Kukaniloko Birth Stones is also nearby and is considered the most sacred cultural site in central Oahu.

In Hawaiian, wahi a wa means "place of noise" referring to the heavy surf of the north shore that at one time could be heard in this area. Today you only hear the traffic.
