Wadi Khamis, Nov 12, 2008
Wadi Khamis is one of the remarkable sites that survived the decline in rainfall in the recent years. It actually preserves a varying amount of water nearly all the time compared to other Wadis in the U.A.E which have water only after rainfall although the water dries up quickly.
Wadi Khamis is a nice place to visit with family or friends for a picnic, perhaps having barbecue. The perfect time to visit is during December to late February which is normally our rainfall season. The Wadi has no facilities such as toilets, shops etc so make sure you take whatever you need with you. The nice thing about the Wadi is that it stretches on quite a long distance so you will definitely find a place to settle and find a better scene given that you have 4x4. Kids can enjoy swimming in the wadi, catching frogs and tiny fishes. If continue your trip through the wadi you will reach Al Ain city passing by small Omani villages.
Wadi Khamis will look like this …
