The Waca Cricket grounds - great day out for the family Feb 05, 2013
So i went to the Waca the other day and as much as i don't like/understand cricket i had a good day.
I went to see a cricket match, it was Australia vs West Indies. My boyfriend had been wanting to go for ages but tickets were sold out and it was the last game of the season so i started searching around, loads of tickets were on gumtree but eventually i found the best tickets (really cheap) on eBay.
Gates opened at 10.00am and the game started at 11.20am and didn't finish till 7pm so its a full day (and i still don't understand cricket)
Its a great atmosphere, everybody dresses up as-well! i was singing along to reggae with the West Indies much to my Aussie boyfriends disapproval haha!
I was also tweeting funny messages to the big screen as-well :)
its great fun
top tip - take a hat its sooo hot, luckily there are sun cream stations everywhere so i keep topping up (I'm a ginger so i burn)
lots of food outlets and bars as-well
also fun games and activities around - such as photos with the players (cardboard cutouts) check how fast you can throw, temporary tattoos etc
so yeah its a great day out for the family
iv got some photos which i will also get to adding soon :D
There is also a museum on-site as-well and its only $2 per person, it has some old signed bats and lots of history about the WACA and the players. They also do ground tours on days when there is not a game :)
