Tasty Cantonese Food in Lima aka Chifa! Mar 29, 2009
Recognized as one of the best Chifa (Chinese Restaurant in "Peruvian" Spanish) in town - even winner of awards, Wa Lok is a classic for everyone who wants to taste delicious Cantonese food in Lima.

I love this place, but wouldn't be my suggestion if you are in Lima. I'd prefer to take you to eat some local food. This time, Hubsy and Giao (TB’s) were missing a good Chinese so much, that I decided to drive them there. They have 2 locations. The first in downtown Lima in “Calle Capon” which is our China Town. We went to their 2nd location, which is modern and located in Miraflores – easy to reach. This building doesn’t look like a restaurant, more like a casino. It’s big and have parking in the basement, but never enough. This place is popular and always full of families, also Chinese ones. I use to come here with my family too :P

In both places they offer a wide menú. The Cantonese food is the classic one, but with some touches of the Peruvian one. Their dishes are very tasty and you have to start with their dim sums. We always order the “arroz chaufa” (fried rice), look for the tai pa that has all different kinds of meat, gallina tipakay (sweet chicken) and kanlu wantan If you like the fish I highly recommend the “pescado en flor” my mom’s favourite. There are many chifas in Lima, most of them really cheap. This one is not so cheap, but so good… Portions are huge too. If you don’t know what to order, don’t worry and ask Liliana Com – the administrator – to give you some suggestions.

Although they offer different kind of drinks, you will find in most of the tables the “Inka Cola” The staff is nice and don’t get surprised if you listen to them singing “Happy Birthday” in Chinese :)

If you are going with a group larger than 10ppl, you are allowed to bring 1 bottle of whiskey or 2 of wine, paying a fee of S/ 20.00 vino y S/ 40.00 whisky
