Luxury Hotel in the Financial District Sep 07, 2015
I stayed here for a few nights during Labor Day weekend 2015. The hotel is fairly easy to get to from the blue line, you can ride straight from the airport to Monroe station and from there it is about 4 blocks to the hotel.

The hotel is located in the business financial district. This part of town has seen more stores and restaurants open in the past couple years so it does feel lively. There is also JW Marriott right across the street. If you are here for shopping, I would get a hotel closer to the Magnificent Mile.

My room was fairly small, it would feel crowded for two people. The window looked out into the back of the hotel, there wasn't much of a view but I didn't spend much time in my room and there was plenty of light in the morning. I ordered breakfast, an omelet, which came from the restaurant inside the building called IPO. It was probably some of the best food I've gotten from room service in a hotel. The bed and sheets was very comfortable and I slept well. Overall, it was a good experience. If you can find a good deal and don't mind a small hotel room I would recommend it.

A great breakfast is compensation for a small room!

Chic hotel in the city center Jun 29, 2012
City center in Chicago is called a loop i think because a raised subway tracks encircling this area. Just a block away from this loop on Adam Street is a boutique hotel W. I had a chance to stay there for a night. I took metro to the union station from another destination in the outskirt of the city and walked all the way to the hotel from the station as a way of getting to know the street and enjoy the street scene during the evening rush hours. The entire ambiance was very much like NYC except for the raised subway tracks right in the middle of the city center surrounded by high rises.

When I entered the hotel, it was filled with music in the lobby as if i was entering a night club. In the lobby, I found long circular sofas and lights from the ceiling and nicely dressed and young people all lounging around and enjoying what could be the Thursday happy hours after work. I did not particularly like the noise but it provided the vibe and atmosphere of a big city night life.

The room itself was surprisingly small, given the location right in the heart of the city center, it might be expected but it was one of the smallest rooms that I stayed ever in my life time. The bathroom was even smaller with no real space between the tub and toilet. I had to be extra careful not to spill water as I was washing my face on the sink.

Except for the fact that the hotel was right across from my meetings, I would not have stayed at this hotel but if you value location over space and you prefer to be in a place where you can easily access young vibrant city night life then it can be a good choice. I noticed many young couples checking into this hotel as well as business travelers. The famous Chicago Sears Towel is also just a few blocks away and the Orange metro station is also just a block away. The Orange line also can take you to the Midway Airport.

Overall hotel service was very good. But I think there is something to be desired when it comes to using concierge service for restaurant recommendations. Even though there was a great restaurant right around the corner that met my requirements, I was told to go to a restaurant much further away from the hotel. Given that I did not have the time to travel and spend more than 2 hours for the dining, I opted to go to the restaurant close to the hotel based on the Yelp review and it was one of those pleasant surprise moments that I enjoyed greatly, including the associate who traveled with me.
It was novel to find connectors to…
