The restaurant Vostochny Kvartal is of Uzbek origin and serves very interesting dishes like ‘plov’. It is located on the popular shopping street Ulitsa Arbat, but the prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent (especially if you’re not a big fan of beets, which the Russians like to put in just about everything).

The atmosphere is fabulous, the interior looks very Uzbek and the staff wears traditional clothing (or at least, I think they do. I’ve never been to Uzbekistan or have any idea what their traditional interiors and clothing look like). They have an open kitchen, which I always like. Not only do you have some sort of entertainment by watching the kitchen staff cook, you’re also instantly aware of the hygiene of the place.
