Voodoo Doughnut

Voodoo Doughnut is not only a great place to buy doughnuts but is a must see when you make a trip to Portland. Is a bit of a cultural experience when you go there.

Not only are the doughnuts good they have a very wide assortment of kind of dougnuts. They area famous for their maple bar with bacon on it but they also have lots of other interesting concoctions. With doughnuts like the "Triple Chocolate Penetration", the "Dirty Old Bastard", "Grape Ape", "The Memphis Mafia" and the "Dirty Snowball" how can you go wrong.

They area very creative in their flavors and surprisingly good. The Maple bar with bacon may sound weird but once you try it you will want it every time you go. I had the "Old dirty Bastard" which is a doughnut with Oreo cookie crumbles stuck on the doughnut with chocolate glaze and drizzled with peanut butter. It was probably my favorite. We had a delicious doughnut called "Mexican Hot Chocolate" that was like a cinamon doughnut covered with a powdering of cinamon and hot chocolate powder. A blueberry doughnut was also a favorite. We saw but did not get a doughnut with fruit loops on it.

When you get there there will be a long line but stick it out and have fun with it. Next time I go I will bring a piece of paper to write down a shopping list of doughnuts from the menu board as I am waiting in line as there are too many to chose from when you get up to the front of the line. Our server was a little grumpy and gave us some unfriendly service but the scene at Voodoo Doughnut is one to be embraced.
