Climbing the Volcano San Pedro May 11, 2012
This is 3 hour ordeal on relatively easy path, going trough coffee and corn fields. Entrance to the path is around two kilometers from the San Pedro la Laguna and it is manned by “guides” that will try to take as much money as they can from you . They showed us paper that says that we have to pay 100Q (13$) to climb the mountain, which is incredibly expensive. Tourist guides in the city will take you to the mountain for anywhere from 60 to 100Q per person, so do not fall for this extortion.

We really wanted to go up, and after long arguing we paid 40Q per person and went to punish our bodies for next 3 hours…

View from the top is towards the Santiago and opens the lake in the front of your eyes. Sunrises should be special but for that you’ll have to start your climb around 2AM.
