Volcan Arenal Overview

Volcan Arenal is a perfect stratovolcano and is actively erupting. During the day you will see plumes of smoke pouring out but the real fireworks start at night. This is when you can see lava flowing down the sides of the volcano. It is said that only 10 out of every 3 million people will ever see a volcanic eruption, so seize the opportunity while you can!

You will most likely stay in La Fortuna to get a good view of the volcano. Due to the geothermal activity there is an abundance of hot springs to enjoy. Hiking around the base of the volcano is also a fun and free option.
