A great way to see the sights from another angle Aug 24, 2011
What better way to spend an hour than cruising down the river Vltava.

We headed down to the Cechuv Bridge area to see what trips were available. Various cruises leave from this area and we chose to 'cruise' with Evropska Vodni Doprava. There are a number of different cruises available ranging from 1hr, 2hr, 3hr durations, there is also an option to cruise on an evening whilst enjoying dinner. We opted for the 1hr cruise for 220 koruna (approx 8.00) The cruises depart hourly and we left at 11.30am. Given that it was morning our boat was relatively empty, though I am sure they're more busier in the afternoon.

Once we had set off a waitress came around to take our drinks order (both soft and alcoholic drinks available) The boat made its way steadily up the river towards and under the Charles Bridge before turning around at the Vltava weir and resuming its course back towards and under the Cechuv bridge heading towards the Stefanikuv most before returning back to its original starting point. There are many beautiful buildings along the river bank and there is also a running commentary giving valuable information on the area, river and buildings.

All in all an enjoyable hour, though I am not entirely sure as to how a 3hr cruise would be filled. I assume that the boat travels further along the river after the Charles Bridge.
