Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Freeport Reviews
At the Resort Apr 15, 2011
I visited this resort twice. We loved it because it was all inclusive. All you can drink/ all you can eat! Service was good. One tip, we booked through a travel agent. They said we were on our honeymoon and we got one of two rooms that they reserve for wedding/honeymoon visitors we had an amazing view and were literally just steps from the water. I cant wait to go back again.

Get what you pay for ... Huge room for improvement though Sep 17, 2010
My experience of the service I was greeted with , was to arrive in another country only to find that I did not have the room I booked over in the United States. The room was suppose to be a king bed with a beach view and when I was lead farther, and farther from the beach, the room decomposed into a pair of queens overlooking a metal fence blocking the road that we came in on. When we returned to the front desk, we were given a confused response: no this is the room you booked. Clearly it was not and after a long conversation with several people we were given the brush off. They said stay the night and tomorrow they would look for the room we booked, hoping we would drop it... which we did because what is the point of beginning a much needed vacation with a confrontation?
So we settle for the rooms we were given and tried to unwind . We found that our television didnt work and our a/c only pumped out hot air! Back to the front desk... they said they would get an engineer to fix the problem right away. Half a day later it was fixed while we were away at the beach
We ran into the staff being very laid back with the service that was expected back in the US. Punctuality was not one of their strengths and everyone seemed to run on their own time. There were some friendly staff who worked there, but the majority were rude and responded to the guests like they were being bothered by simple requests like- may I please have a drink or some food?
There were island people who walked up to you every 10 minutes asking you to buy sea shells. Even after answering no, or making a purchase, you would still be asked to buy some more things. Personally I rather not be bothered while I am trying to relax on vacation by beach gypsies.
The maids would forget or simply not give us towels. They would take the old towels and not replace them until the maids were tracked down and asked several times that we needed new ones. A few times I scowered the building for the maid and asked for new towels, she said we would be charged. I told her it was taken 20 min ago by her fellow worker. Is it just me or wouldn't it be more efficient to take the old towels and replace them with the new ones in one trip? Do not loose them either, these towels purchased in the 1980's are a fortune to replace if you loose them!
The food in the buffet was mediocre at best. I think the motto there is quantity over quality. There is also a meat-cutting station with a heavy man cutting a slab of beef and sweating all over it for flavor. There is also a fly problem all over the resort. The buffet does not have screens and the flies are everywhere. You have to eat the food like you are in prison, with your arms around it like a wall for fear the big bad flies will rob you in 10 seconds, no joke! You cant go wrong with food on the beach consisting of burgers and hot dogs , but it still has the same fly problem times 2. So scoff the food down as quick as possible, because if you let is sit for a few seconds you wont be the first to take a bite.
In the fine print you might want to read about the restaurant bookings. For a full weeks stay you only get to eat at one of the two restaurants three times total. If you stay fewer days you get even less. They should just tear down the imitation Asian restaurant. There was nothing to eat there with the minimal imitation plates. If there is hardly anything on the plates, at least make i taste good.
Go with the Italian restaurant , they actually got something right in the food department over here. The dishes were filling and the service is friendly. The tasty dishes can also be mixed with the small pizzas which were not particularly great, but still an added bonus available till late at night if you choose.
The drinks were very, very, weak and watered down with a heavy amount of juice. For those people accustomed to drinking, you could spend an entire day at the bar and never feel a buzz. I recommend getting the beer or wine, which by nature can not be mixed or watered down.
In summary you really get what you pay for... which is the beach view. We found by talking to other customers that the lowest the fully inclusive trip can get very very cheap. So you pretty much buy the beautiful beach view. Don't expect sandy beaches, there are many rocks here with coral all over the shoreline. There are also water-sports set up privately right next to the resort. You can haggle a bit with the man if you want to go out longer or with a larger party for a lower price. I recommend the glass bottom boat trip where it takes you out snorkeling , sightseeing, and you get to visit the dolphin area from the boat.
I would recommend the trip if you have the money just laying out to spend. However , if you have been saving for the perfect getaway experience... this is not the place for you.

Viva Spirit of Vacation! Jun 08, 2009
Just spent a week at this wonderful resort. Sure, it's not the Ritz Carlton, but it is a wonderful place to relax and not be trampled on while enjoying this white sandy beach! The temperature of the water is the same as body temperature, you won't want to leave it!
They feed you well, and the food is good, if you don't mind not having much variety (only 3 restaurants to choose from here). The staff really make the experience wonderful. There won't be anyone nagging you, and in general the spirit of the place is one of helpfulness.
If you snorkel, you won't believe the kinds of fish and corals you can see taking only 5 fin strokes out from the beach here! If you dive, I definitely recommend the user friendly dive shop with excellent staff! This is a great place to be!
