Vitton Beach Resort, Donsol Mar 30, 2007
When in Donsol, the most convenient place to stay would have to be the Vitton Resort, hands down. The opportunity to swim with whale sharks is what draws people to this locale and in order to do so, one is required to go through a 7am-ish registration process at the tourism office/whale shark interaction center.

Given that Vitton happens to be right next door to the tourism office allows more time for precious Zzz's and saves a bit of trouble finding transportation and getting there.

They have about a dozen rustic cottages which go for P1,500 ($40)/night and less if you opt for the non-air conditioned ones. The cottages come with 2 double beds accommodating 4 people though the rates are only good for 2. Extra charges will apply per additional person (P500/$12.5).

Bathroom quirk: by the shower you will find the back of the AC jutting out of the wall. Make sure to flush well and not leave any floaties at night so as to avoid any funky air-defreshening odors while you sleep.

The dining area is outdoors fronting the beach. It's relaxing during the day and provides a great view of the sunset in the evenings. Orders are taken in advance (pre-order your breakfast at dinner). There didn't seem to be any stand alone restaurants in town, so you're pretty much stuck here. As for the food, the menu is rather simple and limited - pork chops, fried chicken, spaghetti, etc. - not the best , but no complaints either.

For those not wanting to turn in early, you can partake in the only form of nightly entertainment - karaoke madness with the staff and other guests by the bar/snack/breakfast nook.

The staff is highly accommodating and will help you make arrangements for transfers to and from the airport and with almost anything you need.

Lastly, don't be fooled by the name. Vitton may be a beachfront resort, but it's not the kind of beach to laze around, get a tan and swim in. Not that it's filthy, but just stick to the whale interaction agenda and you'll be guaranteed memories you'll want to pass down to your great grandkids!

It has been written in a lot of reviews about vitton having the best location for the Whaleshark experience. I am just echoing that. I totally agree about the location, being next to the Butanding Interaction Office.

The beds, room and toilet are not that bad as well. Food is not that good enough, people there are courteous enough....

The firefly cruise are also readily available from this resort. For all the conveniences that this resort could offer, I would definitely reccommend this place if you want to visit Donsol for the Butanding and the Firefly.

Standard room 1,800 (2pax)
300 pesos extra pax (2 extra max)
200 extra mattress
3,500 - family room - 4 pax (with dinette)
all rooms have ac and hot shower
