Vision Airlines Grand Canyon West Rim Tour Las Vegas Reviews
Amazing views of the Canyon Sep 22, 2010
The first time we were in Vegas in 2010 Julie and myself were on a whirlwind tour, we had just three days to see as much as possible and we had both agreed that the Grand Canyon was a must. With no time to drive there when we saw an advert for a flight that would allow us to see the Canyon in 4 hours door to door, we paid our $199 each and booked our seats.
The cost included transfers to and from our hotel and we were collected from the Planet Hollywood Hotel by bus, and after collecting other passengers were driven to North Las Vegas Municipal Airport from where the flight was based.
After booking in and looking around the small shop at the airport our flight was called and we boarded the rather 'cosy' 15 seat Dornier 228 aircraft. We were given the safety instructions and we donned our headphones through which the pilots gave a commentary about what we were seeing.
Very soon after take off we were flying over the Hoover Dam and on to the Canyon. As we reached the Canyon the scenery was breathtaking but unfortunately the thermals over this area meant a very bumpy flight and poor Julie got very airsick. The aircraft lurched and bumped and I rather enjoyed the rough ride - but Julie was not feeling at all well. This aircraft is very loud and the headphones were necessary to subdue the noise so communicating with her was impossible apart from hand signals to express my sympathy for her.
Aside from Julie's air sickness, this was a fabulous experience and the views of the Canyon were awe inspiring. The flight lasted just over an hour and it left us wanting to see more of the Canyon. It wasn't a cheap experience at $400 per couple but in our eyes it was worth it to see the Canyon in the limited time we had available.
