Virginia Creek Settlement Bridgeport Reviews
isolated from the outside world Aug 05, 2014
Virginia Creek Settlement gave us a whole different experience of lodging style! We stayed in a wood cabin with basic accommodation. The only item in that very small space is a double deck wooden bed and a full size bed. There is only one light bulb, and it can be switch on or off by pulling a string connected to the switch bulb. We stayed for three nights here. In the morning when I cleaned up I saw dead insects underneath the beds! Yikes! There are no sheets for the mattresses, but for minimal fees they'll provide one. We brought our blankets and cover sheets. Nightly rate for wooden cottage was $25.00.
There are barbeque pits and picnic tables where we enjoyed barbecuing and roasting s’more under a starry night.
Our cabin didn’t have private bathroom but the common bathroom is just few steps away. The shower room is coin-operated; two-quarters for twenty minute's shower, but add more if you stay longer. Toiletries are not provided so we brought ours. The shower room and toilets are NOT coed, so that is GOOD!
There is a nicely decorated restaurant in the property but expensive. We ate once, unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience.
There is a restaurant in town, about less than 10 miles away where we had American breakfast.
If you don’t like staying in the same cabin we've had, there are cozier cabins and motel-style which have private bathrooms and modern amenities. Of course, these type of accommodation will cost more and needs to book in advance.
There are wagon style lodgings and space ground for tents for only $10.00 a night.
Virginia Settlement Creek is very accessible to four major destinations in the Sierras, namely; Mono Lake, Bodie Ghost Town, Yosemite’s Tioga Pass, and Travertine Hot Spring.
What I enjoy most in this rustic place is the creek that runs through the campground especially in the morning when you are awake by the soothing sound of bubbling water. Fishing activities are welcome, for free!
Lastly, this is a place where you are isolated from the outside world – there is no Wi-Fi connections and cellphone signals!
