A bit expensive but clean and peaceful resort Apr 15, 2008

BEACH:

Virgin Beach Resort claims to have the longest and widest beach in the area of Laiya. Based from reviews and personal accounts, I think they are saying the truth. Their sand is much finer than those of nearby resorts.

The ocean was full of jellyfish though. You can snorkel but it will be hard to see fish or corals. If you're lucky you can see a few small fishes. The water gets deep easily, and currents are strong.

EXPERIENCE:

I went here twice - the first time with my family and relatives, and the second with my friends.

The first time I went there was days after the powerful typhoon Milenyo hit Batangas, so it was understandable that the resort was a bit dirty and in disarray. But the staff did regular cleanups of the area, especially near the shore, so it was good.

The second time was a much better experience. It was a sunny day and it was perfect. We were only there for a day tour but they gave us a free parasol worth Php 1100!

The crowd is good. You can leave your bags unattended and not be worried. The resort has house rules that prohibits noisy and rowdy behavior, so definitely no videokes, which is good.

ACCOMODATIONS:

The parasols were big and enough to seat around 5-7 people plus bags, or probably more. The locations are right at the beachfront and the sight was glorious. The bamboo cabanas were big too, but a bit on the gloomy side. They are situated in an area with lots of trees, which provide good shade. They are a two-minute walk from the shore. The air-con casitas looked good, but I was not able to try them yet. They are right smack on the beach, and they probably have the best view of the ocean.

FOOD:

Food was expensive and not at all great. Servings are a bit measly. As far as I know, there is no buffet. At least during the two times I've been there.

The restaurant/pavillion looked good. It has no walls and guests are gifted a nice view of the beach and the ocean. A table is reserved for your group so you are sure to have a table during meals. If you are early, you can choose which table you'd like.

SERVICE:

The staff was friendly and good. But during the busy hours, they can be a bit slow. But you can request for water, ice, a massage, or the likes and they'd be happy to comply.

me and my friends went here last 31 October 2010. We arrived around 8AM.. we informed the staff that we'll check the area first before making any payment, they were very courteous enough to allow us and showed us the directions.. we decided to spend the rest of the day in this resort.. so we went back to office and pay P1230 for the dining parasols, since it was only a day tour though we were planning to spend an overnight.

To be honest it is a good beach, clean and has the longest and widest beach in the area of Laiya. shower areas are clean.. there's only a couple of bad comments:

1. the staff were so rude and most of them are bad mannered. please note that we already made a full payment and we still have a changed.. they claim they have the longest beach shore, its true, so we were strolling along the shore and staffs approached us and told us we are not allowed in that area, it is only for the guest who checked-in overnight, and they told us to just stay where the day trip area is!! a segregation for overnight and day trip guests within one resort.. we told them that we paid full and we a are also entitled to the amenities of the resort.. the staff said it is their policy, fine.. we told him we'll leave in awhile, he did not listen and even called some of the staffs. We told them we'll leave and they don't need to guard us or stand behind us as if we were prisoners.. well its alright with us if that is their policy but we courteous enough to the guest.. remember if its not for us, they wont have any salary.. mind them, it is not written in their house rules/guidelines that guests who avail of their day tour can only stay in their respective areas.. whilst the guest who checked-in for overnight can go anywhere within the resort.

2. around mid day, one of the staff came out with an air gun.. he was aiming to one of the dogs. according to them they are using air gun to wander off dogs and cats in their resort.. we inform their office about this and they could not comment on this. i am a dog lover and using air gun to drift aways dogs is very wrong and illegal. i will report this to the authorities.. too bad we did not take a photograph while they were shooting the dogs.

overall it was a good resort but the staffs are so rude and bad mannered.
