Virgin America San Francisco Airport Reviews
Good airline Dec 22, 2014
Our over a month visit to United States required a lot of internal travelling over rather big distances. The shorter ones we would cover in a rental car, but the really long ones needed to have been travelled via air.
There are quite a few airline companies which fly within US. We have done a reasonable search for options before we decided to try out Virgin America – airline Partner Company to Virgin Atlantic.
We booked 3 different flights with Virgin America:
San Francisco CA (SFO) 22 Dec 2014 11:40 to Dallas TX (DAL) 17:00 (Main Cabin Select $470.10 per person including an in-flight meal and entertainment, exit row seat and one free piece of check-in luggage about 22.50kg)
Dallas TX (DAL) 30 Dec 2014 14:10 to Washington DC (DCA) 17:50 (Main Cabin $305.10 per person including an exit row seat plus $25 for one piece of check-in luggage about 22.50kg)
New York NY (JFK) 08 Jan 2015 16:55 to Los Angeles CA (LAX) 20:25 (Main Cabin $232.10 per person plus $25 for one piece of check-in luggage about 22.50kg; we though we booked exit row seats, but since the aircraft layout was different to the previous ones, we had normal seats)
The on-line booking process is very easy and straightforward with clearly displayed prices and fare conditions. You can also make a choice of your seat, and pay for extra upgrades.
Our first flight from San Francisco to Dallas was delayed nearly by an hour. As a compensation for the inconvenience, each passenger was given $20 automatic refund to use on future flights or flight products. I though it extremely friendly customer approach and soon I even forgot that we had a delay.
The other two flights went smoothly with no delays.
The flight interior is very simple, but comfortable. It looked considerably better comparing to Virgin Atlantic.
Needless to say, having an exit row seat also helps to ease off any possible discomfort.
Only during our first flight we had a pleasure of free food and drinks with Main Cabin Select fare. The food included a light sandwich with fresh fruit and a snack. There was also a wide variety of soft and alcoholic drinks on offer. The food was of a good quality and flavoursome.
In-fight entertainment was provided free of charge only for Main Cabin Select fare paying customers. It included a good selection of current blockbusters, TV shows and music channels. Headphones were also available (free for Main Cabin Select).
One of the highlights of the entire flight was security video which was done in a very fun and cheerful way. Pleasant to watch even if you have already flown a dozen or more times.
I give Virgin America thumbs up for a great customer service, good selection of fares and general enjoyableness of the flying experience.
