Vino In the Valley Maiden Rock Reviews
Unique dining experience at a vineyard May 20, 2010
Vino in the Valley is a unique dining experience where you can dine in an open-aired restaurant overlooking the vineyard and the Rush River. The menu is very limited - only a handful of pasta, pizza and salad choices, but the food is very good. The pizzas are cooked in a wooden-fired oven. The pasta dishes come with a dessert - the cook's choice. They even have gluten free noodles!
There are three wines from the vineyard to choose from, as well as several other brands. You are encouraged to buy a couple bottles to share at your table with your meal. Or you can step up to the "bar" for some wine tasting. They also have beer, but none on tap.
We arrived early on a Thursday evening and most of the tables were full, or were filled soon after. We shared the meat and cheese appetizer platter, which was very delicious. I tried the pasta caprise with gluten free noodles. It was also good. The dessert was a ball of (very rich) chocolate cake, dipped in chocolate and served with whipped cream. It was perfect! Delicious and just the right amount.
Every hour or so, the owner comes out and talks with the customers and does a little music performance. The restaurant is open on three sides, with tarp-like walls that can be closed for light rain. The restaurant does close sometimes during inclement weather.
After dinner, we stopped in the little gift shop to purchase some wine to take home. Then we walked around the vineyard and out along the Rush River. It is a very pleasant setting. There is a campfire area with tables and chairs and a little gazebo. There is often a wait during busier times. It is a great place to eat and watch the sunset.
