Great Resort! Apr 10, 2011
This was a great hotel! It's actually a resort type of thing so the suites are more like condominiums. The first impression of course is of the lobby and it's truly beautiful. Everything from the tile to the paint colors is great. There is work for sale by local artists on display (which my mom seemed unable to resist...).
The first thing you notice about the suite (at night at least) is the lovely room freshener they use. Not entirely sure what it is but is smells great. The rooms themselves are very clean and decorated nicely as well.
One of the really nice amenities was the free shuttle service. All of the guys were great and offered some really good tips on what to see but especially where to eat! If you tip them well and consistently I'm sure they wouldn't mind bending the 3 1/2 mile shuttle radius either...
The staff in general! All of the guys were more than willing to help us out and fix things when the need arose. They really are great.
The fireplace was really nice as well. My mom and I constantly have a temperature war as she's always hot and I'm always on the verge of freezing to death. She was able to keep half of the place an icebox while I toasted myself in front of the lovely gas fireplace.
There is a heated pool and jacuzzi available behind the lobby building and a small fitness center inside. I believe I even heard a pool table from somewhere in the lobby area.
There are washers and dryers (coin opperated) available in the lobby building.
There are free juices and hot drinks available 24/7 in the lobby area.
The Cons (to be fair):
Don't expect to take any long lingering baths in these tubs. They could be designed this way to discourage frivolous water use since Santa Fe is in a desert region and usually short on the stuff... Although, there are plenty of upscale spas around so... hmmm.... The problem (according to my mom) is you can't lie back in it without the risk of breaking your neck. It's also pretty shallow. The shower part is nice though and has a great head on it.
There currently is no free WiFi. Major bummer I know, but they DO offer two free-to-use computers in the main lobby area so we can't complain too much, right? Still, kind of annoying. Although, with a little ingenuity you can work around this... you just didn't hear it from me...
