Villard de Lans - Corrençon en Vercors Ski slopes Villard-de-Lans Reviews
Ski slopes in France, in the Vercors Feb 25, 2009
For a couple of years I went skiing in France, close to Villars de Lans. The ski slopes of this village were used for the Olympic Winter Games of 1968. Mostly French people visit this place. There are not so many tourists here.
The area is not very big. It's not possible to make day trips and explore all the slopes. After a couple of hours you've seen all the slopes. Though it's not as big as in Austria for example, there are slopes of all levels.
There are Beginner zones(3), green(5)/blue(10)/red(8)/black(9) slopes and two places for ski/snowboard classes. The ESF is the French organization for ski or snowboard teachers.
Snowboard lessons minimum age: 10 years
Ski lessons minimum age: 3 years.
Lessons in groups or private.
There are 260 snowguns to make sure there is always snow in the winter season. Two cable-cars and 4 chair-lifts bring are there to go to the higher slopes.
At several heights there are restaurants and bathroom facilities.
Paragliding is possible too. I don't know where to arrange it, but it's great!
Day pass: depends on the time of the day you start. 29 euro for a full day, 26 euro from 11am, 22 euro from 1.30pm, 17 euro from 2.30pm.
4 out of 7 days pass: 97,50 euro.
Week pass: 154 euro.
When the French people don't have holiday, you can get student discount. These are the prices without insurrance. If you want you can get insurrance too, in case something happens and your own insurrance doesn't cover activities such as snow sports. I don't know how much you have to pay extra.

Ski and snowboard rental:
At many places at Villard-de-Lans, Cote 2000, Le Balcon, Les Glovettes and Clos de la Balme. Prices are different and renting snowboard gear is more expensive than ski gear.
between Villard de Lans, Cote 2000, Le Balcon and Les Glovettes are free ski busses. I think they go every 15 minutes.
Villard de Lans: 1050m
Le Balcon: 1153m
Les Glovettes: 1200m
Highest slopes: 1920m, 2029m, 1988m and 2050m.
Appartments and hotels at Corrençon, Le Balcon and Les Glovettes. There is not so much to do in the bars. There is no such thing as apres ski in these places.
Also in summer time this area is great to visit. Beautiful views, hiking, paragliding, mountain biking.
