Village Hotel Ocho Rios Reviews
Village Hotel Jun 09, 2014
The hotel located at the main busy street with plenty of parking space for the hotel guests to use freely, and the hotel entrance, open toward a grill restaurant which own by the hotel, and it is also double up as a reception area. Outside the main street at the hotel gate, plenty of souvenirs shops, but beware of it, as they try to trick us to go to their shop (saying it was a hotel entrance), once we see it was a shop, we decline and we just go straight to the hotel.
The female reception who work at the hotel was friendly and speak English well and she shows us the room before we agree with the price since we do not have any reservation in this city.
The building and the corridor of the hotel looks strange and a bit old, with musty smell. We passed a small outdoor swimming pool with many lazy chairs on the way to the room on the second floor.
The room she showed us was spacious – quite big with it is own kitchen and one double bed, it was a bit dusty but okay. When we first enter the room, it felt so hot, and the reception turn on the air condition to make the room cooler while we register and pay downstairs. The window in the room was open to the hallway so cannot really open the window or let the curtain open – otherwise we do not have any privacy, since everybody who pass the room able to see inside.
However, after waited for ten minutes at the pool area, and then back to our room, the room still quite hot and then we inform the reception about this problem. The problem solve quickly and the reception change the room with the next door room and working air condition.
The room cost usd65 per night without breakfast, and the reception willing to give special price for buffet breakfast for the two of us for usd5 (pay separately and in cash), since there is a medical conference group tour staying in the hotel and they have buffet breakfast in the morning. I thought it was very cheap – and I agree with it. Unfortunately when we get to the breakfast room in the morning around 9.15am, almost all the food was gone – it appears the tour group was up very early and probably really hungry, and eat most of the food. We have a bit left over – but not much and we just eat whatever it was. It was local food and some quite strange since there is a couple slices of bananas cook with some kind of brown gravy, but we do not know what it was. The food was not bad, but it was not good either.
Anyway, for one night stay, the hotel was okay and it was pretty quiet at night time, albeit very busy and noisy in the morning with the door slamming and voices in the hall way.
