Good view, convenient to downtown Mar 29, 2008
I stayed at Villa Santana in early March in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas. It's historical signifigance is that of being a former residence of General Santa Ana. Various buildings and rooms were renovated to become Villa Santana. I stayed in "La Torre" which was the pump house. The first floor had a living room and small kitchen and a narrow spiral stairway takes you to the second/top floor where the bedroom, bathroom and small porch is. Great view of the harbor, and good breezes--atleast in March. There's no a/c but it wasn't needed. The shower had poor hot water pressure, but if you have a sunburn its irrelivant and the cold water had normal pressure. Kitchen had microwave, coffee pot, stove, oven, frige/freezer. Kitchen door opens up to an outdoor table and chairs and near the small pool with an open view of the town and harbor. To light sleepers, I think you might want to take earplugs to St Thomas as there's various music and roosters, honking cars and barking dogs you're likely to hear throughout the night. A good vantage point on the hill in Charlotte Amalie, yet only about a 5 minute walk down to the waterfront area. I rated this place as average in cost, although from my research it appears to actually be one of the cheaper places to stay in St Thomas.
