Villa Manos Hotel Karterados

Villa Manos was a real find for us. We rode a ferry with a man that had a reservation there and we decided to try it. (It was 2:30 AM in the morning and we had no reservations ... we had decided to contact one of the vendors who meet the ferries...) The Villa Manos driver met us at the ferry and drove us up the long snakey road to the top.... Amazing curves... I didn't even get car sick I was so shocked at how twisted the road was.... despite the curves and up hill the tour buses were passing us ... in the dark ... on the curves.... Yikes... It was exciting....

We met in the lobby of the motel/hostel and were served a glass of red wine.... (It was 3 AM now.... Hey Tara, Morgan, Erin... we are party animals now!!) The manager explained a bit about the area and passed out a pamphlet with available tours... We were assigned rooms... David and I got a second story room .... It was a quad room... When we first walked in there were twin beds, a bathroom with a shower, then the second room had a double bed. It had a kitchen table and chairs, standing closet, medium size refrigerator, dressing table and a wonderful balcony with a second table and chairs set. We could not believe we got it for $25.00 total. The bathroom window was high and I could hear a fountain bubbling.

The next morning we found there was a beautiful swimming pool and a jaccuzzi tub. (in two different areas....) The front area of the motel had tables and chairs. For five Euro we had a breakfast of toast, jelly, butter, egg, and some olives. They served orange juice and coffee with no extra cost.

The bed was comfortable and the nighttime noise was not bad... The location was very convenient as it was easy to get into town. The internet cost 3 euro per hour .... unfortunately there was only one computer... Beer and wine was available. They did laundry for 10 Euro... We feel it was a wonderful place and an incredible bargain. The owner was very upbeat and really helpful.... We will absolutely stay here again when we visit Santorini...

You get picked up from the airport (or ferry port) and are brought to a lovely hotel with a view of the sea. Our room was nicely decorated with new pine furniture and we had a mini fridge, a table to sit and eat at, an outdoor seating area and a small but clean bathroom.

The owners are very sweet and greet you with information about where to eat, how to rent an ATV, taking a tour, getting to the beach and all you need to make your stay a lovely one. The pool was pretty, a little cold, and was great to relax at. You need to bring a flashlight if you are going to walk to town (not even a 10 minute walk), because sidewalks aren't popular around there and the cars can coming flying around the corner.

Breakfast was a little expensive and we did not like having to pay 3 euros just to get online for an hour at a computer in the front office. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay!
