Villa Lighea Art Boutique Hotel Positano

This is a stunning villa - it is even better in person than the pictures show, and the pictures are good. The beach was a lovely walk down stone steps, and the town of Positano is an easy 10-15 minutes walk along the local road. Other than one simple flaw - the nosy and overprotective owners - it would have been perfect. Since I don't expect the owners to change I would advise anyone looking to shop elsewhere. Again, the area is fantastic, the people (except these owners!) we met were warm and lovely, and it is a wonderful area to visit. A few specific challenges we had with the villa:

*Air conditioning didn't work.
*Maid service for four hours means the owners wander the house for 4-6 hours each day talking on the mobile phone.
*Trash issues in Naples impacted directly on our holiday - despite the four hours maid service we had to sort and remove our own trash.
*Cook for the evening was initially offered at EUR100. Then rose to EUR 200, and was eventually EUR300 (all in the space of two hours!).
*Linens are changed only on Wednesday - don't dare let towels from one bathroom move to another bathroom or you'll be sorry!

If you do rent from these people, get everything - especially related to money - in writing with a receipt. And whatever you do, don't come with more than 10 people including (even tiny) children. We've traveled all over the world and have never experienced this kind of intrusive, difficult relationship. The owners live next door, so they are inescapable. Book the place down the lane, but don't book Villa Lighea!
