Viking Ship Museum Roskilde Reviews
Not a total waste of time, but hardly enlightening or ...gasp - authentic! Jul 11, 2016
The shtick for this place is that it is a permanent exhibition of five original Viking ships excavated nearby in 1962. And don't get me wrong, they've done a great job reconstructing it. But therein lies the problem - you can tell it's been reconstructed and that kind of steals away a certain amount of authenticity.
The museum itself needs to get better organised. I saw people walking in all directions, no proper inward flow across the exhibits.
Kids will enjoy though- the open part of a museum is where they show kids how to cut wood, how ships are built, etc. and even have some exhibits which... well, are apparently so good they almost look like the 5 exhibits inside. Which is kind of the museum's undoing because it makes the 5 original look even more unauthentic.
The only bonus was walking through a beautiful wooded footpath for about 1km to get to the museum. NEXT!
