Viking Ship Museum Oslo Reviews
Fantastic little museum! Oct 20, 2014
This museum is very deceptive - from the outside and the entrance it looks small and over-priced (but it IS Oslo!). But actually, the museum has so much inside that if you have an interest in Vikings and their history, you could easily spend an hour or 2!
The Viking ships themselves are very interesting, with the "stories" of the ships placed on the surrounding walls. There is also a viewing platform for each ship, so you can climb up a little set of stone stairs and take pictures of inside the ships from the balcony.
At the back of the museum there is an area for smaller artefacts displayed in glass cabinets. There are detailed information plaques for all the beautiful items on display, and I spent just as long looking at those as I did looking at the ships!
I would recommend taking the boat from the pier by City Hall to Bygdøy as it offers some beautiful views of Oslo.
Overall, a lovely trip - there are some other things to do in the area and I would highly recommend a visit to the "Norsk Folkemuseum" as well.

oh my god!! Mar 06, 2013
as someone who is completely fascinated by the viking era , this is an addictive place!
The main attractions at the Viking Ship Museum (of course) are the beatifully carved Oseberg ship, Gokstad ship and Tune ship.
the Viking Age displays includes sledges, beds, a horse cart, wood carvings, tent components, fabrics found, buckets and more great good that were found in adifferent graves. the most famous ship in the museum is the completely whole - the "Oseberg ship".
feels like staring at a miracle!
