Vienna Subway (Underground)
Vienna Subway (Underground) Reviews
Don't have a bad time in Vienna Subway May 01, 2013
If you are travelling and you like to use the subway/tube/underground (as you like to say it), the lines in Vienna usually will take you all around the main points that you have to see! But my piece of advice is while you are travelling and using these trains, because there is anyone who is selling the tickets or who can explain you which category or ticket you have to choose. The machines that sell the tickets don't explain much either, so or you take a ticket which lasts many days for your journey (more convenient) or you take the ticket that has a design of a big person (not the little person with the dog).
This fact is so important, because sometimes you have a very exhaustive control, and this inspectors don't hear you at all, they will fine you if you don't have the correct ticket (that sometimes is not clear which one it is) and even as important as to get the right ticket is to mark it in the machines you have before you enter.
Fines are very severe, a 100 euros if you don't mark it or if you have the wrong ticket, and sometimes the possibility of going to the police station. It is important to pay attention to this, because there is no information or help from the subway authorities, and the few posters you can find related to subway services are only in German and don't say anything about which ticket is correct and the fines you could have.
Most important of all, they don't have considerations to tourists and sometimes it looks like that they could be the 'victims' this inspectors like to chose.
So, Get the right subway ticket and Mark it!
