vienna grape grazing tour 2008 Jun 07, 2008The tour leaves at 9 am in the morning and drives you to the picturesque Wachau valley in Austria. Here you taste your first wines. The guide teaches you all about the types of wine, how they are grown and how to properly taste them. You get a decent amount of wine to taste as well. From here you jump on the bikes which are all new, and ride through the valley. The scenery is amazing and its great to be out riding through the vines. It isn´t a hard ride so anyone could do it. In Durnstein (a small town in the valley)you walk up to a ruined castle which has 360 degree views over the valley. You then taste some more wine in family run wineries in the surrounding small towns of durnstein and weissekirche, as well as tasting some local liquers, jams, mustards and chutneys. Another short ride and the guide cooks you an awesome lunch with Austrian sausages, chops and salads before going down to the banks of the Danube for some beach volleyball and a swim in the Danube. The whole experience is amazing its the perfect mix activities with awesome guides whose knowledge of the area is top notch. If your going to vienna make this the tour that you do. It is worth the 49 euro it costs hands down. |
