Victoria's Sitka Reviews
A victory in Sitka... Jun 23, 2012
There aren't many dining options in Sitka, nor many bars. Victoria's is a somewhat odd building nestled in the heart of downtown which offers both. As you face the facade, the right side is the restaurant, where my wife & I enjoyed breakfast, left is the bar. During our brief visit to Sitka we dropped in on the bar for a couple drinks during our first night in Alaska and breakfast the morning after.
A good experiences on both sides. The bar is quite interesting...your typical work-a-day dive, there are a few video games and several side rooms with interesting decor, even a small outdoor porch in back. Patrons were a mix of locals + tourists, so you won't be lacking for conversation!
When we returned for breakfast, there was initially some sticker shock at menu prices, though realization this was Alaska and the fact they weren't ridiculously crazy comforted us. In fact, the friendly service (very friendly, though not 100% competent) and portion sizes quickly overcame any reservations. Our breakfast selections were over-stuffed and delicious. The coffee would be the best we drank throughout Alaska.
Not a runaway superstar, but given limited options, a fun and satisfactory place to score eats or a drink!
