Victor Harbour Overview
Victor Harbor was always known for being the sea side place to go on a weekend. There are surfing beaches nearby and in winter there are whales in the area. There is also the walk or ride in a horse drawn carriage, across to Granite Island.
It has now become heavily populated, with new roads leading into Adelaide, people are happy to commute. It has now gone from a tourist town or the place to live when retired, to a thriving seaside town.
Despite the fact that harbour is normally spelt with a u in modern Australian English, the name of the city is spelt Victor Harbor. This spelling, found in several geographical names in South Australia, including Outer Harbor, is the result of spelling errors made by an early Surveyor General of South Australia.
