Via Mare Reviews
Traditional Filipino Fare Nov 03, 2008
Via Mare has always been my favorite restaurant. It serves fine traditional Filipino food in an unpretentious cafe setting. While many restaurants sprout every now and then offering international or even Filipino cuisine, only Via Mare satisfies.
The mouth-watering, freshly baked Bibingka is a true winner(rice cake baked on banana leaf, topped with duck egg and cottage cheese), along with warm Pancit Luglog (thin rice noodles in shrimp sauce flavored with many other toppings), or Lumpiang Ubod (Heart of Palm in Soft Crepe), or even Puto Bungbong at anytime of the year. These are only a few of the 'merienda' (high tea) which Filipinos are so used to having. Via Mare Coffee Shop also serves signature Filipino dishes such as Kare-Kare, Laing, Callos and Caldereta to name a few.
