Vesuvio Hotel San Jose Reviews
We stayed at this hotel two times Apr 06, 2013
The first time was for two nights on March 26th and 27th, and again for another three nights from April 1-3 when we returned from Nicaragua. The hotel itself is located in a middle class residential neighborhood, but within walking distance of the city center and several nice parks.
The three staff at the reception desk were quite friendly and helpful. I am an early riser, and Mauricio the night manager would always make a pot of fresh coffee for me every morning. Juan Carlos the daytime manager was always prompt in answering any questions, and the same goes for Adriana the sweet lady with the sweet smile!
I believe there is free WI-FI service in all the rooms, but didn't use it as I didn't take my laptop on this trip. However, there is a desktop computer in the lobby with a fast internet connection, and it is free for all hotel guests.
The rooms were cleaned everyday while we were there. Bath soap, fresh towels and shampoo were also provided. Hot water was easily adjustable in the bathroom. There is an ice making machine down the hallway which one can help himself to anytime. There are only ceiling fans in the rooms, but with San Jose's cool climate you really don't need air conditioning. Oh, there is also cable TV in the room with over 60 different channels, around 10 in English.
Breakfast is included in the room rates with a choice of a typical Costa Rican breakfast (rice with beans and eggs) or toast with fried or scrambled eggs. Also, bananas, watermelon or pineapple. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant several times and enjoyed all the meals.
I should also mention the chef with the same name of Juan Carlos who provided good service everytime we had dinner or breakfast in the restaurant. All of these people spoke good English which of course is essential in every hotel in any country where international travelers stay.
The location of the hotel was good too, as we could walk to downtown San Jose, and to the several parks nearby. We didn't have any problems with noise even when there were young students staying there. The front desk staff also arranged all the tours for us. Thank you, Hotel Vesuvio for making our stay at your hotel pleasant and comfortable.
