Here are some interesting things to do for locals and tourist alike that cost very little money or none at all!

One of the great art museums of the world, The Art Institute of Chicago - FREE admission after 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

Museum of Contemporary Art - FREE admission on Tuesdays

The Lincoln Park Zoo - Always free - no admission ever. Open every day of the year.

Chicago Architecture Foundation "L" (subway) train tours - 4 free tours every Saturday morning. Tickets must be acquired in advance on Saturday morning at the Chicago Office of Tourism Information Center at 9:00 a.m.

Half Price/Same day Theater Tickets can be purchased at Hot Tix - 72 East Randolph or 163 E. Pearson.

Last minute tickets for long running productions, such as Blue Man Group are sometimes free. Productions such as Wicked, are half price.

The Harold Washington Library - The cities showpiece library, built in 1991 is a 10-story Neoclassical marvel. It houses over 2,000,000 books and 14,000 periodicals and is Free. A must see if you like architecture and/or browsing libraries.

The Baha'i House or Worship of North America - on Linden Street in north suburban Wilmette, IL.

One of only 7 Baha'i Temples in the World and a beautiful and serene place. Free admisssion.

And the best one yet! Visitors can discover Chicago's unique charm and many offerings while learning something new about the city with a Chicago Greeter. These tours can be arranged for groups of 1-6 people and tours are avaiable about music, art, museums, food, neighborhoods, etc.

Catch the enthusiasm of city-wise locals who volunteer to share their knowledge and love of the city through visits on foot and public transportation.

Enjoy the local points of interest on these two to four hour visits as well as some of the Greeters' favorite spots.

Visit: for information on the areas available to tour and how to register. It's FREE!
