Verona Deli New York Reviews
Dec 18, 2005
In a city famous for it's delis, it can still be really hard for a visitor to find a "real" one; so many in the areas you are in as a tourist, when you are near your hotel, or the major sites you want to see, are there purely for the tourists; they are unbelievably overpriced, and not the real taste of New York that you were really looking for. It can be a little bit of a let down.
That's why I wanted to share my favorite REAL deli with you; the Verona Deli, at the corner of 39th Street and Madison. Yes, it's a little off the beaten path from where you might be for the rest of your stops - but that's the point! (although it's close to Macy'sand Lord & Taylor’s if you’re there) This is where real New Yorkers go, and you will be richly rewarded for hunting it down.
The food is NOT fancy, but it's very tasty. They make the best Rueben sandwich I've ever had. It's all hot, made quickly, and the prices are nice andcheap - a rarity when visiting the big city.
I hope you enjoy this. It won't have the polish of the fancy tourist traps, but it doesn't have the price tag either, and it's the real deal. And if you don't like it, you blew under $10 start to finish - and most likely under $8.....
They don't have their own website (it's just not that kind of place) but I did find a website that has their menu listed, so you can see how much they have and how amazingly inexpensive it is! Hope you like it!!!
