Vernon is a city in the interior of British Columbia. It sits next to Okanagan Lake. The city of Vernon, at 37,000 people, is growing and becoming an interesting tourist destination. Some tourist attractions of interest include Davison Orchards, O'Keefe Ranch, and Kalamalka Provincial Park. A good time to visit the city is on the July long weekend, as the Funtastic slo-pitch tournament is held then, and every February when Vernon Winter Carnival takes place. Besides the lake, Vernon has some good skiing in Silver Star resort.

Vernon gets relatively hot in the summer, which makes for great beach weather on one of the 2 main lakes(Kalamalka is the other one) and also very cold and snowy in the winter. It is a good location too for seeing more of the Okanagan, as its within day trip distance of many other major cities in the Interior including Kelowna, Armstrong, and Salmon Arm, and Kamloops. 4.5-5 hours West of Vernon is Vancouver.

Vernon. My hometown. The place I’ve lived by WHOLE life. It’s a beautiful, small city in the Okanagan Valley, which is situated in BC’s interior. The population is about 37,000 people. It’s the North Okanagan’s largest city and is located on three lakes, Okanagan, Kalamalka, and Swan, and surrounded by golf courses and Silver Star Mountain (the local ski hill). About 450 kms West is Vancouver, 600 kms East is Calgary, and 150 kms South is the U.S. border. Vernon is accessible by ca...
