David and I tried to leave Rome to catch the train up to Spenzia beginning around 9:30 am. Unfortunately, there was a bus strike in Rome. We stood at the bus stop for hours and couldn't understand why the bus number we needed hadn't come. We laughed later and said probably everyon…

I spent 5 weeks in Florence with 20 other interior design students from the States. We studied Renaissance art, architecture and the villas around Tuscany. I had the most amazing time!

This is my 3rd time to Cinque Terre (meaning 5 Lands). And each time, it gets more beautiful - if it's possible. There's plenty to do, with hiking the trails to each village, taking the train, swimming (even nude), or exploring the villages and experiencing it all.

Riomaggiore, Italy -› Manarola, Italy -› …
While attending the Andrews University MSA program at Villa Aurora, Florence, Italy almost all students went on a one day trip to the coast visiting the five villages called Cinque Terra. It is a very nice place where you can hike from village to village or take the train from one village to the next. The "best" village I thought was Vernazza but if you are into the beach, you should go directly to the last village Monterosso.

Venice, Italy -› Florence, Italy -› …
I started my trip in Venice, then went to Florence, Siena and Monterosso one of the five towns in Cinque Terra. Although my favorite location was Venice, I was very lucky to have been in Siena on the day they were choosing 4 of the riders for the Palio.

Roadtrip again. This time I wanted to visit Toscana together with my son. I wanted to go to Italy before the start of the tourist season and this March turned out to be everything what I wished for in an early spring trip.

Cerveteri, Italy -› Rome, Italy -› …
Here I'm displaying some pictures of my vacations in Italy. We were visiting Italy from 1998 until 2007 or so. Every summer we were traveling to another part of the country. As you will see, the photo's include some sight-seeing pictures most of the time.
I'm sorry for the bad quality and the messy content!

Rome, Italy -› Palermo, Italy -› …
Vernazza is a pretty little place, like the other towns along the Cinque Terre the buildings are all brightly coloured, and there seems to be a more lively atmosphere here than the other towns except for Monterosso (the largest). Vernazza has a small triangle of sandy beach area, and the water is n…

From Pisa 2 Cinque terre 2 Siena 2 Assisi 2 Amalfi Coast 2 Sicily all in 9 days. The Italian drivers are crazy!!! Overtaking on a blind corner on a cliff edge of a narrow rd with a bus coming for you in the other lane at 130km. Not us! but this is what your ordinary driver in Italy seems to do and all of them have bumps and scratches on their cars!!! So we are home safe and well. Highlight of trip: seeing a live active volcano check out the photos!!!

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.
